Help us give every child at St Luke's a playground they can play, climb and grow in.
The Need - St Luke's C of E Primary School serves 389 children on the Isle of Dogs in Tower Hamlets. Many of our families live in flats without gardens, so for lots of our pupils the school playground is their main chance to be outdoors, stay active and play with friends. Our playground has no fixed play equipment and no safe flooring. Children play on a bare, hard surface, with nothing to climb, explore or imagine with.
Why It Matters - Active, creative play helps children's physical development, friendships and emotional wellbeing. We have no sensory areas for children who need calm, quiet spaces to regulate, and no dedicated areas for our youngest children or different age groups. We want a playground that works for every child in our diverse, multilingual community, including those with special educational needs.
The Project - We are raising £100,000 to improve our playground with new fixed equipment, safe flooring and spaces designed for all ages and needs. We hope to raise it within the next 12 to 18 months, depending on funding success, through grants, community fundraising, business support and this page.
What your donation helps pay for:
- Safe rubber playground flooring
- A climbing frame and active play equipment
- An Early Years imaginative play area
- A sensory zone and quiet spaces for children who need them
- Seating, shade and community-friendly areas
Every gift, big or small, brings a better playground closer. Please donate today, and share this page with family, friends, neighbours and local businesses. Thank you for your support.
