The Need
Our EYFS outdoor learning area is outdated and in urgent need of resurfacing. As a small rural school with 50% of our pupils identified as SEND, high-quality outdoor space isn't a nice-to-have for us — it's essential.
Why It Matters
Outdoor learning delivers vital developmental, social and wellbeing benefits for all our youngest children, with a particularly strong impact for pupils with SEND and those identified as Children in Need (CIN). A well-designed outdoor environment helps children regulate their emotions, reduces anxiety, and increases engagement for those who often struggle indoors. It provides rich sensory experiences that build communication, physical development and attention, and opens up real-world, hands-on learning that a classroom can't replicate.
Our Vision
By resurfacing and updating this space, we'll create an inclusive environment where every child — whatever their needs — can explore, play and learn confidently and safely. This funding will help us ensure equitable access to meaningful, nurturing outdoor experiences for our most vulnerable learners.
About Our School
Kingsley St John's is a small Church of England Academy primary and nursery school of 48 pupils, set in the rural village of Kingsley, Cheshire. Half of our children are identified as having SEND, and we're supported by a small but dedicated group of parent volunteers, Friends of Kingsley St John's. We're aiming to raise approximately £20,000 to give our youngest children the outdoor space they deserve.
Every gift, big or small, brings us closer to giving Kingsley St John's children the outdoor space they deserve — please give today.
