A Calm Space for Every Child to Learn
Rosa Street Primary School is a proud urban, from a community where every penny of support makes a real difference.
We run two nurture groups providing targeted support for emotional regulation, communication, and social skills. For many of our pupils, a calm, predictable, and consistent space isn't a luxury — it's a prerequisite for learning.
The Challenge
Right now, our intervention and nurture sessions compete for limited indoor space. Support sessions clash with the main timetable, and there is no dedicated outdoor space where children can regulate, reset, and reconnect before returning to learning. In the North East, the weather means outdoor provision simply isn't possible without a weatherproof structure.
What We Are Building
We are raising £49,535 to purchase and install an Outdoor Classroom Pod — a weatherproof, acoustic-friendly, purpose-built space that will:
- Give our two nurture groups a dedicated, calm environment away from busy corridors and classrooms
- Allow more intervention sessions to run simultaneously without disrupting the main school day
- Provide a quiet regulation space for children experiencing sensory overload
- Bring outdoor curriculum delivery to all year groups, in all weathers
- Serve as a secure on-site hub for outdoor learning equipment
