The Franciscan Inclusive Outdoors Project: A Space for Every Child to Thrive
At Franciscan Primary School, we believe that every child deserves a safe, inspiring, and inclusive space to play, learn, and grow. Our school is a vibrant, diverse community in the heart of Wandsworth, serving 289 incredible pupils from Nursery to Year 6.
However, many of our children live in a dense urban environment with very limited access to safe green spaces or structured play outside of school hours. This project is our commitment to changing that.
The Challenge
For many of our children, school is their primary access to the outdoors. With over half of our pupils eligible for Pupil Premium and a higher-than-average number of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), our current outdoor space needs to do more.
What We Are Building
We are embarking on a phased transformation of our EYFS, KS1, and KS2 outdoor areas between Summer and Autumn 2026. Your donations will help us build:
- Active Zones: Climbing walls, trim trails, and agility equipment to build gross motor skills and physical confidence.
- Inclusive Play: Zoned areas specifically designed for social interaction and quiet regulation, ensuring children with SEND have a space where they feel safe and included.
- Nature-Based Learning: Outdoor classrooms and sensory gardens to bring the curriculum to life through experiential learning.
- A New MUGA: A Multi-Use Games Area to provide a professional-standard space for PE, competitive sport, and structured team activities.
Why Your Support Matters
